Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski München

Tell us a little bit more about you and your career background.

After completing my education in Hotel School and serving an apprenticeship, I was eager to pursue my passion in the United States. I landed a job at the Hyatt Regency in Milwaukee and Denver, where I worked for several years. Ultimately, having a family made me leave the US and return to Europe.

In 2015, I reached out to Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich expressing my interest in joining their team. After submitting my CV, I was invited for an interview and offered a position as a Guest Service Agent. This role has been an excellent fit for me, as I love engaging with people and contributing to the hotel’s internal communication.

Moreover, this hotel holds a special place in my heart. My father, who was a hardworking and astute trader, brought my siblings and me here on several occasions. We dined at the restaurant and even stayed overnight. To my father, it was an opportunity for us to learn proper etiquette and behaviour – lessons that have stayed with me to this day. For me, Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich feels like a part of my life since the very beginning.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

Every day, as I put on my elegant uniform and make my way up the stairs to the lobby, where my desk is located, I feel like I’m entering a different world. I’m proud to be a part of it, no matter how small. As part of my job, I interact with colleagues from different departments of the hotel to respond promptly to any guest requests. I like the daily challenge to ensure our guests have the best experience possible. Whenever things work out beautifully, it brings me great joy, even if it’s just for a brief moment.

One Kempinski moment that particularly stands out to me is when a guest stayed with us for an extended period for medical reasons. When he eventually checked out, the entire hotel staff gathered in the lobby and driveway to wave him goodbye. It was a touching moment, and we were all moved to tears – both us and the guest.

How is Kempinski different from other places where you have worked?

One of the standout features of our hotel is its fascinating history, which is reflected in every inch of the space. As I walk through the halls, I am constantly surrounded by exquisite, handcrafted art, porcelain, furniture, ceilings, walls and more. Each piece has a story and a unique beauty that is truly breathtaking.

At Kempinski, we value passion for European luxury and a people-oriented approach. We believe that art can make people feel good and we strive to embody this philosophy in all that we do. The Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten is the epitome of European luxury, combining the knowledge of European hoteliers with the traditions and cultures of the finest food, drink and environment products.

What advice would you give to someone considering joining or someone who has just joined Kempinski?

If you consider joining Kempinski, you will get an incredibly nice orientation and get to know the hotel very well before you even start working. At Kempinski, everybody is very welcoming, supportive and all employees are valued for who they are. We are really respectful to each other and joy can be felt in every department. We trust each other and I think that is the key to achieving beautiful performance.

Any interesting fact about your hotel property?

Underneath the hotel runs the small city river. Maximilian II used the power of the water to gain electricity for the hotel. Therefore, he was able to heat up the Hotel and get power for 1000 light bulbs. The hotel was the first to offer these amenities all year round, hence its name. You can even find the original desk of Kaiserin Sissi in one of our luxurious suites. And don’t forget to check out our modern cafeteria, complete with the latest and most sophisticated coffee machine.
