Tell us a little bit more about you and your career background.
I joined Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta on February 2011 as a Front Desk Agent. Since then, many lessons and experiences have taught and shaped my hospitality practices and skills. I did everything wholeheartedly and within a year I was given an opportunity to be promoted as Supervisor. Other promotions during my time in Kempinski have brought greater and bigger responsibilities.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Meeting and serving people from all over the world from diverse cultures and be able to make them smile during their stay is my passion.
How is Kempinski different from other places where you have worked?
Being with Kempinski for more than 10 years, I am living proof that Kempinski provides and encourages its talent to grow and develop, whilst not forgetting its main goal to deliver a beautiful performance for each and every guest, allowing them to leave the hotel happy and smiling.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining or someone who has just joined Kempinski?
I believe that Kempinski is a good place where you can develop and grow your professional career in the hospitality industry since career development opportunities are available. However, it is very important to work with passion and heart as those points are fundamental, especially when you work to serve people. Be a person who never stops learning because there are so many things you can explore and discover in Kempinski and I am sure they will lead you to unleash your potential.
Any interesting facts about your hotel property?
Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta is the first 5-star hotel in Indonesia and has become one of the country’s oldest hotels and cultural heritage sites. Another interesting fact is that the hotel was initiated and inaugurated by the first president of Indonesia, Sukarno, who wanted to reflect Indonesian culture in the hotel and raise the dignity of Indonesia, which hosted the 1962 Asian Games IV. Furthermore, there are a variety of Indonesian artworks in the hotel, such as paintings, sculptures and various statues from across the archipelago. Since the location of the hotel is the heart of the capital city, Jakarta, the hotel is also very accessible.
