Executive Sous Chef - Banquet

Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok

Tell us a little bit more about you and your career background.

My name is Watcharin Kialon, known as Chef Nine–which means ‘Boss’ in Thai–by my colleagues. I am the Executive Sous Chef at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. I have been working here as a Sous Chef overseeing various outlets, such as Brasserie Europa restaurant, the Executive Lounge, in-room dining and breakfast service since the hotel opened on 27 September 2010. After two years, I was promoted to Head Chef for Banqueting, where I managed larger culinary operations with increased responsibilities. In 2019, I was appointed Executive Sous Chef and continue to hold this position. Being part of this remarkable culinary team at a successful luxury hotel in a competitive market is a dream come true. My biggest career accomplishment has been realised at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. I am grateful for the learning and growth opportunities provided by the company. Equally important is the fact that I strive to support and nurture the team, enabling them to flourish within the company and excel in their roles.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

My job allows me to be creative by designing unique menus and experiences tailored to exceed guest expectations. Each event presents different concepts and styles to cater to discerning clients, ranging from high-profile meetings to luxurious weddings and international brands. This opportunity has enabled my team and I to showcase exceptional culinary offerings. Beyond cooking and food presentation, working in the banquet kitchen fosters continuous learning in culinary skills, communication, planning and coordination with the sales and service teams. Together, we create seamless and unforgettable experiences that surpass guest expectations. I am dedicated to providing opportunities for my team members to showcase their talents, build confidence and advance in their careers under my guidance and support. This reflects our humble Thai culture at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.

How is Kempinski different from other places where you have worked?

I believe this company has consistently supported its staff, even during the most difficult times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. At Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, the senior management team dedicated themselves to providing unwavering support to all staff members, ensuring that no one was let go. Furthermore, the company has offered significant career growth opportunities for all employees. This establishment is a reliable place where you can establish and nurture a successful career for life. In my opinion, Kempinski is truly a ‘People-Oriented’ company, as demonstrated by the practices at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.
